Represents the quality preference settings for the HEVC AMF encoder. This setting controls the trade-off between encoding speed and output quality. AMD AMF uses this to adjust internal encoding decisions and optimizations. Lower values prioritize quality, higher values prioritize speed.

Speed = 10

Prefer Speed (value: 10) - Fastest encoding with acceptable quality. Optimizes for real-time encoding scenarios like game streaming or video conferencing. Uses simplified motion estimation and faster encoding decisions. May result in larger file sizes and slightly reduced visual quality. Best for: Live streaming, screen recording, real-time applications.

Balanced = 5

Balanced (value: 5) - Good compromise between speed and quality. Provides reasonable encoding speed while maintaining good visual quality. Uses moderate complexity algorithms for motion estimation and mode decisions. Suitable for most general-purpose encoding scenarios. Best for: General video encoding, online video platforms, standard content creation.

Quality = 0

Prefer Quality (value: 0) - Maximum quality at the expense of encoding speed. Enables all quality optimizations including advanced motion estimation, sophisticated rate-distortion optimization, and comprehensive mode decisions. Results in best possible quality and compression efficiency. Encoding time can be significantly longer than other modes. Best for: Archival, professional video production, offline encoding.
