Enum for HEVC/H.265 profile options for Intel Quick Sync Video encoding. Profiles define the set of coding tools and bit depth support for HEVC encoding. Intel QSV HEVC support requires 6th generation Core processors (Skylake) or newer.

Fields

Unknown = 0

Unknown profile. Allows the Intel QSV driver to automatically select the most appropriate profile.

Main = 1

Main profile. Standard HEVC profile supporting 8-bit video with 4:2:0 chroma subsampling. Most widely supported HEVC profile with excellent compression efficiency. Suitable for most consumer video content and streaming applications. Intel QSV provides full hardware acceleration for Main profile.

Main10 = 2

Main 10 profile. Extends Main profile with support for 10-bit video depth. Provides better color accuracy and reduces banding artifacts. Commonly used for HDR content and professional video production. Requires Intel 7th generation Core processors (Kaby Lake) or newer for QSV support.

MainSP = 3

Main Still Picture profile. Optimized for encoding still images or intra-only video sequences. Uses only intra prediction (no inter-frame compression). Useful for applications requiring frame-accurate editing or image sequences. Lower compression efficiency but faster random access to any frame.

REXT = 4

Range Extensions profile (RExt). Advanced HEVC profile supporting extended color formats and bit depths. Includes support for 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 chroma formats, up to 16-bit depth. Used for professional video production and high-end content creation. Intel QSV support for RExt profiles varies by GPU generation.
