Remarks

A graphic equalizer divides the audio spectrum into frequency bands, allowing independent gain control for each band. This enables compensation for acoustic deficiencies, enhancement of specific instruments, or creation of desired tonal characteristics.

All presets (except 'Custom') use a standard 10-band configuration with center frequencies at: 60 Hz, 170 Hz, 310 Hz, 600 Hz, 1 kHz, 3 kHz, 6 kHz, 12 kHz, 14 kHz, and 16 kHz. These frequencies follow a quasi-logarithmic spacing that corresponds to how humans perceive pitch.

Frequency band characteristics:

  • 60 Hz: Sub-bass - Felt more than heard, adds power and rumble
  • 170 Hz: Bass - Fundamental frequencies of bass instruments and kick drums
